Founded in 1952, the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (ClOMP) is the first national research institute in modern China with optics as its primary research focus. With constant progress for more than half a century, ClOMP has taken on many challenges in order to meet the national needs through its independent hard work, ClOMP has made outstanding achievements in science and technology, cultivated talented young scientists and translated its research into viable, useful innovations and products. ClOMP is known as "the Cradle of Optics" in China for its significant contributions to national defense initiatives, economic growth, and social progress. Look into the future, we are meeting the challenges of the national strategy of innovation-driven development head-on. The next generation of ClOMP researchers aims to build a world-class innovative research base to provide the precision instruments and equipment.
